This Permit authorizes the construction, operation, and closure of approved mining facilities in Humboldt and Lander Counties, Nevada. The Division has been provided with sufficient information, in accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 445A.350 through 445A.447, to assure that the waters of the State will not be degraded by this operation, and that public safety and health will be protected. NDEP issues Notice of Intent to Conduct Triennial Review of Nevada’s Surface Water Quality Standards
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Water Quality Planning (BWQP) is initiating a
review of Nevada’s Surface Water Quality Standards (WQS). This review is to evaluate the need to update or revise
Nevada’s WQS to remain consistent with State and Federal law and to ensure that Nevada’s WQS continue to
reflect the best available science
The Triennial Review hearing will be held online on November 16, 2021, at 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The public is encouraged to participate either virtually or telephonically using the links or the dial-in numbers provided in the notice. The hearing will consist of a brief presentation by NDEP staff and a public discussion period. No items will be voted on and no actions will be taken during the hearing.

Division of Water Resources Schedules Workshops on Regulations on Proposed Hearing Regulations
The Division of Water Resources will be holding a series of public workshops pertaining the Proposed Administrative Regulation LCB File R125-20 (Hearing Regulations). Humboldt County approves funding for cloud seeding in the Ruby and Santa Rosa Mountains
The Humboldt County Board of Commissioners on August 23rd approved a grant in the amount of $3,500 as
part of a cloud seeding project sponsored by the Humboldt River Basin Water Authority (HRBWA) in partnership with members of the HRBWA, local mining interests and other non-governmental agencies in northern Nevada. The William N. Pennington Foundation has offered to share 50 percent of Desert Research Institute’s cost to conduct cloud seeding in the Ruby Mountains and Santa Rosa Mountains during upcoming winter season.
The last time DRI performed cloud seeding operations in the Humboldt Basin was in 2019 and before then in 2012.
The total cost to operate all 5 units in the Ruby Mountains and 2 units in the Santa Rosa Mountains is $120,000. This includes generators, communications, weather stations, maintenance, 24/7 Nov-April weather services, and post season analysis and reporting. The Pennington Foundation has agreed to provide up to $60,000.
