The Division of Water Resources will be holding a series of public workshops pertaining the Proposed Administrative Regulation LCB File R125-20 (Hearing Regulations).  In response to public comment requesting that the proposed regulation be addressed in smaller topical sections, the scheduled public workshops will address portions of the proposed regulation that the Division has identified in the following five general topical sections:

The Humboldt County Board of Commissioners on August 23rd approved a grant in the amount of $3,500 as
part of a cloud seeding project sponsored by the Humboldt River Basin Water Authority (HRBWA) in partnership with members of the HRBWA, local mining interests and other non-governmental agencies in northern Nevada. The William N. Pennington Foundation has offered to share 50 percent of Desert Research Institute’s cost to conduct cloud seeding in the Ruby Mountains and Santa Rosa Mountains during upcoming winter season.

The last time DRI performed cloud seeding operations in the Humboldt Basin was in 2019 and before then in 2012. 

The​ total cost to operate all 5 units in the Ruby Mountains and 2 units in the Santa Rosa Mountains is $120,000.  This includes generators​, ​communications, weather stations, maintenance, 24/7 Nov-April weather services, and post season analysis and reporting. The Pennington Foundation has agreed to provide up to $60,000.

The Administrator of the Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) gives notice that an application for renewal of a Water Pollution Control Permit for the Pipeline Infiltration Project, a mine dewatering and infiltration facility, has been properly filed with NDEP in Carson City. The Applicant for renewal of Water Pollution Control Permit NEV0095111 (Permit) is:

The Project consists of a discharge to groundwater from the dewatering of a mine, pursuant to Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 445A.232.2. The Administrator is constrained to either issue the renewed Permit or deny the application. The Administrator has made the tentative decision to issue the renewed Permit. Persons wishing to comment on the proposed Permit, recommend terms and conditions for consideration of incorporation into the Permit, or request a public hearing pursuant to NAC 445A.238, must submit their written comments, objections, or requests by hand

The Nevada State Climate Office’s monthly Drought Update report for the month of July is available at the Living with Drought website. Also, under the Report Your Conditions section, there is a link to the Condition Monitoring Reports (CMOR) tool that anyone can use to report drought conditions. CMOR is a great way to collect information from any interested parties in the general public who want to share their drought impact observations.
